About the Author
Author Kwon Jong-saeng was born in Tokyo, Japan in 1937. In 1969 he began his writing career with a Christian Children s Literature Prize for his work, Kangaji-ddong. His many titles, including Mongsil unni, Haneunim-ui nunmul, Bapdaeki jukdaeki, Sagwanamubot dalnim, take in interest in the trivial and represent with honesty and warmth the generations of Koreans who have lived through difficult times. He currently resides in a small hut of mud and straw in Andong.
About the Illustrator
Illustrator Kim Yong-cheol was born in Yangku, Kangwon-do Province. He grew up listening to his mother s folktales each night, and enjoys them to this day. He has been a children s illustrator since graduating from Hongik University with a major in Western painting. His many works include Hwin sasum tago-gan yeohaeng, Bauiaeso on nauri, Chosun-ui yongung Kim Duk-ryong. He currently lives on the foothills of Samyong Mountains in Yangku.
About the Translator
Translator T. Yun Hee Lee was born in Inchon, South Korea in 1974. She immigrated with her parents to Vancouver, Canada in 1982. She holds a master s degree in English literature and a Master of Library and Information Studies from the University of British Columbia. Flap Flap is her first translation in print.
